St Georges Terrace

Overview
179 St Georges Terrace is constructed of reinforced concrete frame and reinforced concrete slab floors. The frame is clad with brick infills to the western elevation and white powder coated metal panels and glass façade to the front, rear and eastern elevations.

An insulated metal deck roof is supported on steel framing with box gutters set behind parapet walls. A bank of three lifts service the office tower and all three lifts access the car park.

Vehicle access to the car park is via Mercantile Lane and a right of carriageway.

The building was constructed in the 1960's and a substantial redevelopment of the existing building was undertaken in 1986. The building has since been partially refurbished and upgraded with extensive refurbishment works being completed to the ground floor foyer and the ground floor frontage of the building in 1997.

This redevelopment was comprehensive and involved the replacement of most, if not all of the;

- Electrical services
- Mechanical services
- Ventilation services
- Interior fittings, fixtures and surface treatments
- Exterior glazing and curtain facade
- Fire and emergency services
- Most of the hydraulic services
- Significant lift modernisation, upgrade and refurbishment.

Due to this substantial redevelopment, which involved the replacement of most of the building's infrastructure and services, the building continues to present in good condition, with a modern appearance.
